Brant Ave Neighbourhood Group Summer Camp Visit

The CRR visited the Brant Ave Neighbourhood Group (BANG) summer camp on Monday, July 14, to deliver the Flashlight Readers program! We read the book I Walk With Vanessa by Kerascoët, a picture book that touches upon the themes of bullying, empathy, acts of kindness and bystander effects. The kids became engaged with the book and were eager to share their thoughts and lived experiences related to these topics during the story. Afterwards, the kids selected a new book of their choosing to take home and created clothspin dolls of themselves to represent the power of groups and to foster a positive sense of self with a group dynamic. It was a super fun day!
