The Children’s Reading Room is open on Wednesdays from 9-12 & 1-5, Thursdays from 9-1, and Fridays from 9-12 & 1-5. We provide free quality children’s books with every visit, no strings attached. Our policy is one book, per person, per visit. Come as often as you like and tell your friends! Adults must have a child with them to take advantage of our services. We have books for children ages 0-12.
Planned Programs
Music and Story Circle
Join one of our fabulous Early Childhood Educators for Circle Time every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 10 a.m.! We read stories, sing songs, play games, and have great fun together!
*Music and Story Circle will be postponed on Wednesdays until the end of June 2025. Please join us on Thursday or Friday for this program.
Story Time & Crafts
Join us every Thursday and Friday at 11 a.m. for a literacy-focused craft activity. This is our most popular program! First, we listen to a great story; then, we create a craft based on elements from the story.
Royal City Readers
We are open every Wednesday and Friday until 5 pm for the school-age readers in the community! Come browse through our wide selection of novels and take home whichever one sparks your interest. We also provide one-to-one reading support for children who need a little extra support learning to read or finding a book they enjoy.
Baby Bookworms
Every Wednesday, starting November 6 from 11:00 am -12:00 pm, The Children’s Reading Room is running a weekly parent & infant program at the Guelph Youth Music Centre at 75 Cardigan St for 0-18 months.
During the program, we will sing songs, read stories, explore play materials, create community connections and discuss parenting topics such as attachment, sleep and nutrition.
From time to time, Children’s Reading Room Staff take photos of program participants for promotional purposes. Please let us know if you do not want yourself or your child photographed
