HSBC Family Literacy First Fund - Financial Literacy Program

Thank you to HSBC Canada and ABC Life Literacy Canada for awarding us the HSBC Family Literacy First Fund in 2023!

The Children's Reading Room (CRR) used the HSBC Family Literacy First Fund to plan and deliver a Storytime and Craft program incorporating financial literacy concepts for a young demographic. We selected eight fantastic children's books that provided teaching opportunities for concepts such as currency, savings, earning, and purchasing and created an activity or craft to accompany them.

The award has tremendously impacted the organization and the StoryTime and Crafts program! We now have these books and prepared program plans in our repertoire and can offer them repeatedly to our program participants! Eight additional lessons and activities are in our toolbox to broaden our pedagogy and offerings at the CRR!
