International Women's Day Events
We enjoyed attending two international Women's Day events in Guelph this year. It was an honour to be in the same room with so many inspirational women!
On Wednesday, March 6th, we attended the International Women's Day Guelph Wellington Event at The Grand Guelph Banquet and Event Centre. The 2024 IWD Guelph-Wellington featured a variety of appetizer and dessert stations, a marketplace for entrepreneurs and vendors, and live activities.
Three amazing local panellists joined us for an open discussion about inclusivity and belonging as we asked others to “Count Me In”; 2024 International Women's Day theme. Marva Wisdom joined as the moderator for the panel of guest speakers.
Guest Speakers
Marva Wisdom is a Senior Fellow at Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy (U of T), focusing on Equity, Inclusion, and Women’s Studies. She is also a Fellow of the Environics Institute for Survey Research and was recently awarded the Order of Ontario for her selfless community engagement.
Leen Al-Habash is the Project Manager for the Guelph Wellington Local Immigration Partnership. She is all too familiar with the barriers immigrant women face through her work.
Alex Bulmer is an award-winning blind actor, playwright and filmmaker who has worked extensively in Canada and the UK.
Vicki Olatundun is the former executive director at Chalmers, an attorney, a social justice advocate and a TED-x speaker who likes to challenge the status quo.
On Friday, March 8th, we attend the Onward Willow Neighbourhood Group Women's Day event at Shelldale Family Gateway. We participated in a Women's Run Small Business Market, distributing our children’s books to the families in attendance.
Thank you, Onward Willow Neighbourhood Group!
